Argentina Football Team Squad Rio Olympics: Argentina is scheduled to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. Recently the officials have released the Argentina team squad for Rio Olympics 2016. There is no big name in the 18-member squad announced by the AFA for the Olympics. A total of 16 teams, which includes defending FIFA World Cup champions Germany, hosts Brazil and Asian sides South Korea and Japan will be participating in Rio 2016. Argentina were Olympic champions in 2004 and 2008 and will be favourites in Rio. They are in Group D of the competition along with Portugal, Algeria, and Honduras. Star player Lionel Messi announced his retirement and it was reported that the likes of Javier Mascherano, Angel di Maria and Sergio Aguero also announced their international retirement.

A total of 16 teams, which includes defending FIFA World Cup champions Germany, hosts Brazil and Asian sides South Korea and Japan will be participating in Rio 2016. Argentina is grouped alongside Euro 2016 finalists Portugal, Honduras, and Algeria in pool D.
