AIADMK Candidates List for 2016 Elections: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announced the list of 227 candidates for the May 16 Assembly elections of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. Ms. Jayalalithaa declared that she will re-contest from R.K.Nagar constituency in Chennai and her campaign will start from April 09. AIADMK will contest elections in 227 constituencies of the 234 – seat Tamil Nadu Assembly. Its allies will contest from seven seats. In Puducherry and Kerala, it will contest from 30 and seven seats, respectively. Independence Day (15th August) Celebrations: Independence Day is a national holiday in India commemorating the nation’s independence from the British Empire on 15 August 1947. 2018 is the 72 Independence Day of India. On the eve of Independence Day, the President of India delivers the “Address to the Nation”. On 15 August, the prime minister hoists the Indian flag on the ramparts of the historical site Red Fort in Delhi. In his speech, the prime minister highlights the past year’s achievements, raises important issues and calls for further development.

This year, about 10,000 seats are being put up for the public and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will be offering free rides to the historical monument between 6am-10am to encourage people to be a part of the celebrations. The Independence Day Festival in Delhi is celebrated every year on 15th of August. The celebration starts in the morning and continues throughout the day and into the evening.

72 Independence Day (15 August) 2018 PM Modi Speech Live:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to deliver his fifth address on the occasion of Independence Day from the Red Fort in New Delhi on Tuesday, August 15.

The speech will be telecast LIVE on Doordarshan, both on TV and on the Internet, from 6:30 am. The telecast will begin five minutes earlier — at 6:25 am.

During the programme, Modi will also give out bravery awards to children as well as those from the security forces.

New 100 (Rs) Rupee Note Security Features, Details, Identification

New 100 Rupee Note: After the issue of 500, 2000 Rupees Note, RBI came up with another decision. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released a notification regarding New 100 Rs Note. The new banknote of Rs. 100 will be in the base colour of lavender and will have a motif of Rani Ki Vav – a heritage site located in Gujarat – on the reverse side. And it also features Swachh Bharat logo and slogan. The new note is slightly smaller than the existing one and bigger than the Rs. 10 note. The dimension of the new banknote will be 66mm x 142mm. “The base colour of the note is lavender. The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse. Dimension of the banknote will be 66 mm x 142 mm,” the RBI said in a statement.

“All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs. 100 issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender. As is normal, when a new design of banknote is introduced, printing and supply of these notes for distribution to public through the banking channel will gradually increase,” it added.

In 2014, UNESCO had recognised Gujarat’s ‘Rani-ki-Vav’, the 11th-century wonder in Patan, as a World Heritage Site. It will make a grand debut on this new Rs. 100 note.

The 200-rupee note with a base colour of bright yellow bears the motif of Sanchi Stupa. The chocolate brown Rs. 10 note has Konark Sun Temple on the reverse side. The fluorescent blue Rs. 50 notes features Stone Chariot in Hampi, another world heritage site recognised by UNESCO.
