The State Bank of India is providing Internet banking facility for their account holders.
There are two methods to activate net banking on your account.
One is visiting your local branch and submit the internet banking application form. They will handover your net banking kit to you which contains your Username and Password.
And another method is my favorite.
In this method, you don’t need to visit the SBI branch. You can simply create your Username and Password online.
If you have your Username and Password, we can easily login to our SBI online account to do online transactions.

Apply For Username and Password | Internet Banking Registration Form Method
In this method, you need to submit net banking registration form to your local SBI branch to get Username and Password.
Download internet banking registration form from SBI official website: Internet Banking Form.
Then print out that registration form and fill the following details.
- Name of Customer
- Mobile Number
- Email and Date of Birth
- Your SBI account number
- Mention whether it is an Individual account or a joint account.
- Sign the form and submit it to your local branch where you are holding the account.
If you submit your registration form to the banking personnel then they will guide you the remaining process. After that, they will give you an Internet banking kit which contains your Username and Password.
It is a hectic process.
In today’s busy world, we don’t have enough time to visit our branch to activate net banking account.
So let’s move to the simple method.
Create Username and Password | Online Method (Very Easy)
In the second method, you can easily get your SBI Username and Password online.
In the OnlineSBI home page, Personal banking section, click the New User Registration link.
You have displayed a user-driven registration form as shown on this screen.
Enter your account number as displayed in your passbook.
Enter the CIF number which is available on your Passbook/ account statement.
Enter the branch code as displayed in your passbook. If you do not know the branch code click the Get Branch Code link to retrieve the branch code based on the location and branch name.
Select your country.
Enter the mobile number registered in your branch
Select the Internet banking facility you require: Full or Limited Transaction Rights / View Rights
Enter the Captcha code and click Submit.
You have displayed a form to enter the OTP received in your mobile number.
Enter the OTP and click Confirm.
You are displayed options to complete the registration.
If you have an ATM card, you can complete the registration and activate Internet banking services for your account.
Select the ATM Card option and click Submit
Note: If You do not have an ATM card, Internet banking services will be activated by the branch.
Then you have displayed a temporary username.
Make note of the username.
Create a login password. Ensure that it is 8 characters long and is a combination of upper and lower case alphabets, and contains at least one number and one special character. Re-enter the password to confirm. Then click submit button.

You are advised to login to Internet banking services with the temporary username and password.
How to Activate SBI Net Banking?
So, now you have your Username and Password.
Follow these steps to activate SBI Internet banking account.
Go to SBI official website: https://www.onlinesbi.com
Then click on login tab under personal banking section.
Then you will be redirected to personal banking login page. First, read instructions on that page and then click on ” Continue to Login ”
I already told you above that save Username and Password available in Internet banking kit. Now, you have to enter those details here. Then click on Login.
If you enter your username and password correctly then you will be successfully login to your SBI online account.
This is the first time that you are login to your account. So you have to set a new username and password to make your account more secure.
Once you set your Username and Password then it will ask you to set a Profile password. Profile password provides two level security for your net banking account.
Select a hint question for your profile from a choice of common questions.
Enter the answer to the hint question.
Enter your date of birth, place, and country of birth.
Enter your mobile number as registered in branch records while opening the account.
That’s it, guys.
Your SBI net banking account is activated.
Now, you can make any transactions like paying an electricity bill, internet bill etc with your SBI net banking account.
