Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Elections 2021: The Municipal Elections of GVMC is scheduled to be held in March 2020, but the elections has been stopped due to the Covid Pandemic. Recently, The State Election Commission (SEC) of Andhra Pradesh released the election schedule of 12 municipal corporations and 75 municipalities/Nagar panchayats. It will be held on March 10 and counting will take place on March 14. The results should be out by 8 PM. AP Municipal Elections 2021

The State Election Commission (SEC) has decided to hold the elections for 12 Municipal corporations and 75 municipalities in Andhra Pradesh on March 10, If any, will be held on March 13. Counting will take place on March 14. Municipal corporations going for elections are  Vizianagaram, Eluru, Machilipatnam, Guntur, Ongole, Tirupati, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool, and Anantapur, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.

• Publication of candidates’ list March 3
• Polling – March 10
• Re-poll, if any – March 13
• Counting – March 14

Visakhapatnam GVMC  Municipal Elections 2021

The GVMC elections will be taking place this year after a gap of 14 years. The delay was set in motion when 10 villages from Anakapalli and Bheemili were merged with the civic body in 2013. Opposing the merger, representatives of these villages had moved to court where the case was locked in for several years till their terms expired.

A total of 567 candidates are in the fray for 98 wards in eight zones (including Anakapalle and Bheemunipatnam) in the elections to be held for Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) on March 10.

The party-wise total contesting candidates for the 98 wards are: BSP-9, BJP-44, CPI-6, CPI-(M)-19, Congress-67, Jana Sena Party-51, TDP – 94 and YSRCP-98, other registered parties-1 and independents-178, which takes the total contesting candidates to 567.
