IIT Bombay MDP Program For Session 2022-2023 Starting in July: Apply Before June 19

Indian Institute of Bombay has introduced its new ‘Master in Development Practice’ (MDP) Program for the academic year-2022-2023. Admission to this prestigious program has now been made available on the official website of IIT Bombay until June 19, 2022. According to IIT Bombay, the Master in Development Practise Program will be accessible to the students under the Centre for Technology Alternatives in Rural Areas (CTARA). Students and professionals possessing master’s degrees are welcome to apply for the one-year academic program. What is the IIT Bombay MDP Program 2022-2023?

This program has been introduced by IIT Bombay’s Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas (CTARA). This is in acknowledgment to the stakeholder demands in the development sector for an academic program for professionals from various fields having an interest in the development sector. CTARA is also known for having extensive experience in the training and developing of the professionals and/or practitioners.

IIT Bombay MDP Program 2022: Eligibility- The candidates are requested to go through the eligibility guidelines for the program prior to applying as only aspirants qualifying the same will be able to apply for the said program.

• Candidates must possess a four-year degree in engineering, planning, technology, architecture or a master’s degree in Physical Sciences and at least 24 months of measurable work experience in the development sector;
• Candidates must produce a certificate of experience from a recognised development organization in the required format;
• In addition to this, the employed applicants will also be required to provide a No Objection Certificate from their respective employers.

IIT Bombay MDP Program 2022: How to apply?

Given below is the step-wise procedure for candidates who wish to apply for the IIT Bombay MDP Program 2022-2023.

1. Candidates are firstly requested to navigate to the official website of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB)- https://www.iitb.ac.in/ ;
2. On the appearance of the home page, candidates are requested to click on the latest notification reading- “Admission for Master in Development Practice” Program for the academic session 2022-2023 link;
3. The link will direct candidates to a page displaying the information brochure and also the link to the “Online Application Portal”. The candidates are requested to click on that link;
4. Followed by which candidates are required to click on the “MDP Admission Link” and read carefully the information displayed on the screen;
5. Candidates are then requested to register themselves via the link by filling in all necessary details and submitting the same;
6. Followed by which, they are requested to fill out the application form which shall be displayed on their screen and pay the application fee online (as the same will only be accepted through the online mode);

IIT Bombay MDP Program 2022: Process of Selection- IIT Bombay MDP Program for the academic session 2022-2023 has a specific selection process through which it selects applicants for the program. Further, only the applicants selected are allowed to become a part of the program.

The selection process involves the submission of a formal application followed by required documents and certificates. The grounds for selection will be the candidate’s application form, statement of purpose (SOP), written assignment and interview. 

IIT Bombay MDP Program 2022: Structure of the Program- IIT Bombay MDP Program 2022 will be conducted following a laid down program structure, the details of which have been mentioned herein:

This one-year curriculum will be delivered mostly through the online mode with some interactive sessions and in-person sessions. The program demands students to make the commitment of at least roughly 30 hours per week (class load being 27 credits per semester). Classes will take place in the evenings and on the weekends. This coursework will be well distributed throughout the semester, about 14 weeks per semester in addition to a summer term being approximately 6 weeks which shall be allocated to a fieldwork project.

The students will either be required to conduct the field-based research or analysis project (for a total of 12 credits) under the supervision of a CTARA faculty member. The program is designed with the intention of building on the student’s prior experience in the development sector. The student will be awarded the Masters in Development Practise Degree by IIT Bombay on successful and timely completion of all the requisite course work, assignments and research/analysis project for a total of 65 credits.

IIT Bombay MDP Program 2022: Details of the Course- The program will include core/obligatory courses designed to assist students in order to be able to develop their own views, gain necessary skills, comprehend methodologies and tools for operating efficiently as expert practitioners in the development sector. Furthermore, students will also be able to select from a variety of optional courses given online by the CTARA faculty. The detailed description of the courses is laid down in the program booklet.

IIT Bombay MDP Program 2022: Fees and allied details- The total program fee amounts to INR 3,00,000/-. The same can be paid in the form of two instalments at the start of each of the two semesters. IIT Bombay will not provide financial assistance or hostel accommodation to the students who choose to enrol in the said program. The program is scheduled to begin in the last week of July,2022 provided a minimum of 10 students confirm their enrolment.
