Kabali Movie Pre-Release Business: Kabali is one of the most anticipated movies of Kollywood in 2016. According to the latest reports the movie is going to hit the screens on July 15, 2016 in four languages (Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam) in India. In a report published in The Hindu, Pillai calls Kabali the “hottest film in the Indian film trade right now”, claiming that it is all set to make Rs 200 crore from theatrical deals, merchandise, and endorsement deals before it even releases.

“The Telugu dubbing rights of the film have also been finalised for a phenomenal amount and two Bollywood distributors have been camping in Chennai over the Hindi theatrical dubbing rights. In the overseas market, the film’s France distribution rights alone have sold for more than double what other star films command in the entire European market.

Such is the craze among distributors that a Hong Kong-based company has offered a huge amount for the Chinese dubbing rights and a simultaneous release in China. Negotiations are at an advanced stage as Indian films [read Bollywood] find it difficult to get a China release, and even if they release, it’s usually months after their India release.”

As per a report,

Kalaipuli Thanu, the producer of the movie says that “today a movie starring Rajnikanth generates approximately 40% of the theatrical revenue outside the star’s (Rajnikanth) core area. Yes, this is true and no other actor from South India enjoys such high theatrical viewership outside.” A distributor from Mumbai offered a whopping 16 crores for Kabali, he added.

Kabali will be shown in around 5000 screens around the world on July 22. For the first time ever, an Indian film will be dubbed in Malay, Chinese and Thai. “Kabali” is likely to simultaneously be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam in India.

The film’s producer Kalaipuli Thanu, who gave Rajinikanth the “superstar” title in the Eighties, said: “Believe it or not, in the US alone 500 screens would show the movie. It’s normally impossible. We have achieved it.”
