The original version of the movie Rail is Thodari in Tamil. Rail movie is produced under the banners of Sri parameswari ragna pictures and Aditra movie corporation. D. Dhanush has done the role of Poochiyappan who is pantry worker. He works along with comedy actor Karunakaran and Thambi Ramaiah who is TTR. Keerthi Suresh is makeup woman for an actress who also travels in the same train.

Radha Ravi is a central minister who is also inside the train. Train gets hijacked and how Dhanush saves all the passengers single handed forms the rest of the story. The movie heavily borrows from Hollywood venture ‘Unstoppable’.
