Tamil Nadu 10th (SSLC) Merit List | District Wise Toppers

Tamil Nadu SSLC / 10th Toppers: Tamilnadu students have written their TN SSLC exams 2019. The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) has released the Tamil Nadu 10th Class Results on April 29, 2019. Students can check their TN SSLC Toppers 2019 details on the board’s official websites — www.dge1.tn.nic.in, tnresults.nic.in. After the declaration of the results, The board will also release the Toppers list of TN Class 10th Exams.

In 2018:

This year, the pass percentage of the state has increased by 0.1 per cent as compared to the last year. About 9402 students have secured about 481 marks.

Sivagangai district registering highest pass percent at 98.5 with Erode at 98.38 per cent followed by Virudhunagar at 98.29 per cent. Chennai district’s pass percentage imporved from 93.8 last year to 94.2 this year.

Subject-wise, in English, the pass percent is at 96.50 while in maths, it stands at 96.18 per cent. In science, it stands at 98.47 per cent and social science at 96.47 per cent.

Previous Years Statistics:

In 2017:

As many as 9,82,097 students appeared for the exams. A total of 5059 schools scored 100 per cent result. This year too, girls have outperformed boys again as they scored a whopping 96.2 percentage while boys are at 92.5 per cent. The overall pass percentage is 94.4 per cent in the state which is highest in the last five years.

Subjects:

Social science scores improved with 61,115 scored 100 marks while other subjects saw the scores dropping down. Moreover, in the English paper, not a single student received 100 marks; last year it was 51.

In 2016:

In 2016, a total of 10,23,566 students appeared for the Tamil Nadu Board 10th examination, of which 50.3 percent were boys and 49.7 percent were girl students.

Tamil Nadu board last year scored a record 93.6 overall pass percentage. The segregated pass percentage of girls stood at 95.9 percent, way ahead of their counterparts i.e. the boys at 91.4 percent.

The average marks of students in Tamil Nadu 10th result 2016 last year were 353 the segregated the average marks for girls are 368, again girls are able to outscore boys with latter only managing to score an average of 337.

The board will also release the TN State first mark student name, school, mark sheet details on their official web portal.

1. Highest pass percentage scored by Virudhunagar district of 98.55
2. Kanyakumari at 98.17 per cent.
3. Chennai at 93.86 per cent.

From 2017, students will not be ranked on state and district level as it is said to have promoted an unhealthy competition among schools and students.

“Examinations and marks are incidental in the journey of education and are not the ultimate destination. While exams are a good method to assess the competitive spirit of students within the classroom, we saw that over the last few years, it is being misused and has led to a lot of concerns,” The Hindu quoted school education secretary T Udhayachandran as saying.
